No TRX? How to send USDT anyway

A common problem: you have USDT but 0 TRX, so the transfer won't go through. On TRON, even USDT transfers need a fee paid in TRX or energy.

How much do you need?

• To rent energy: 2.4 TRX (4.8 TRX if the recipient holds no USDT)
• A buffer in case free bandwidth runs out: about 1 TRX

Sending without energy needs 6.5–13.1 TRX, so renting also means you need far less TRX on hand.

Ways to get TRX

1. Withdraw from an exchange: buy a little TRX and withdraw it to your wallet. The most common way.
2. Ask someone: 3–5 TRX is plenty.
3. Swap in your wallet app: some wallets can swap USDT to TRX. The swap itself needs a fee, though, so it may not work with 0 TRX.
