65,000 or 131,000 energy — which do I need?

This is the most common question when renting energy. There's only one thing to check: does the recipient address hold USDT?

Holds USDT: 65,000

If the recipient has any USDT at all, about 65,000 energy is enough. Exchange deposit addresses and addresses you trade with regularly usually fall here.

Zero USDT: 131,000

If the address has never received USDT, or its balance is 0, you need about 131,000 energy. The USDT contract has to create a new balance slot for that address, which costs nearly twice as much.

Rented 65,000 but needed 131,000?

The transfer still goes through, but the missing energy is paid by burning TRX — about 6.6 TRX extra. Renting 131,000 from the start is cheaper.

2. Or look up the address on TronScan (tronscan.org) and check its USDT balance.
